Marissa Friedes Cangiolosi is a Clerk at Village Hall and Secretary to the Mayor, with a concentration in Communications. In addition to helping visitors, processing permits, and assisting with front office administration, Marissa supports the Department Heads’ writing needs and, as of late August, began managing the Village’s Instagram account.
Marissa writes the new digital Village newsletter, edits one-off materials (like our first-ever NYS-certified Lifeguard Manuals), and generates website content — including staff bios, like this one. (Hi there, it’s me!)
Marissa is a published writer with a bachelor’s degree in communications and a background in television/movie/commercial/event production. She is a former Assistant Manager of Promotions for the Long Island Broadcasting radio group, where she co-hosted a morning show on 102.5 WBAZ.
A former Administrator for the Hamptons International Film Festival, Marissa utilized this experience in her role as Village Liaison (a Contributing Producer and Contributing Director) to the Village’s “Hamptons Whodunit: Hamptons Mystery and Crime Festival.” She also worked at The Huntting Inn, where she delighted (and still delights!) in pulling out an area map to give guests a virtual tour.
Marissa was born in Manhattan, raised on Gardiner’s Bay, and worked in NYC and LA before returning east to raise her family in East Hampton — an area that provides what she holds dear: the beach; the woods; arts, style, culture, and beauty; a fascinating history; and pleasant, low-key living.
Marissa, who joined the Village team in January of 2023, has seen that working in government can enable an individual to improve the lives of many people at once. It is her vehement belief that civil, open–minded, two-way communication between a municipality and its citizens is vital to smart and compassionate governance. She is proud and grateful to work alongside her kind and talented colleagues at her favorite Village in the entire nation.
